Surrey Fire Service

Department Overview

The Surrey Fire Service provides emergency response, public assistance, and education to the City of Surrey. Members are trained to respond to residential and commercial structure fires, hazardous materials calls, motor vehicle accidents, and a variety of medical emergencies. The Surrey Fire Service department is divided into 5 divisions.

Department Structure

Operations: responsible for primary areas, including Prevention, Suppression and Training.

  • Prevention: responsible for educating the public in the matters of personal safety and preparedness so that emergencies are prevented, especially through the Homesafe Program.
  • Suppression: responsible for attending to all emergency responses and critical interventions, such as motor vehicle accidents.
  • Training: responsible for providing firefighters with continuous operational training and skills development.

Communications: responsible for dispatching incoming calls for the Surrey Fire Service.

Mechanical: responsible for coordinating the mechanics that maintain the Surrey Fire Service’s fleet of fire apparatus and support vehicles.

Support: responsible for keeping the department running smoothly and handling much of the department’s paperwork and records.

Administration: responsible for supporting the Surrey Fire Service in all of the above.
