Sign up your class to help keep Surrey's parks beautiful and clean.

Our School Park Cleanup program (previously named Lend a Hand) is an easy way for your class to make a difference and build a greener, healthier, and safer community.

We provide litter pickers and bags, as well as:

  • an instructional video
  • activity resources
  • a volunteer hours log

At the end of the school year, your class will be entered to win a pizza party and an Indigo gift card!

Register your Class

Email partnersinparks@surrey.ca with this information:

  • Classroom teacher's name
  • Name of your school
  • Classroom grade/s
  • Number of students

We will send you everything you need to run park cleanups with your class. The School Park Cleanup Kit includes:

  • Instructional video
  • Activity resources
  • Volunteer hours log and registration instructions
  • Litter tracking log
  • Litter pickers and bags

Volunteer hours and the amount of litter that your class cleans up is tracked through the City's volunteer program on MyImpact

You will receive instructions on how to:

  1. Create a MyImpact account
  2. Log volunteer hours for your class
  3. Track the amount of waste your class has cleaned up

Using the resources provided in your School Park Cleanup Kit you will be ready to facilitate park cleanups with your class.

The instructional video provided in your kit will prepare you and your class to be park cleanup champions!

The video includes:

  • Information on the School Park Cleanup program and the positive impact your class will make
  • Important safety instructions 
  • Directions on how to choose the park you clean up

Park Care

Pack It In, Pack It Out

When you visit a Surrey park, make sure you and your students pack out all of your waste. This includes food wrappers and packaging, food scraps, and juice boxes. Help keep parks clean and beautiful, be sure to Pack It In, Pack it Out!
