Crescent Beach Utility Improvements
We're improving stormwater runoff and rising groundwater levels in Crescent Beach.
We will implement Phase III of the Crescent Beach Utilities Improvements project to manage stormwater runoff and rising groundwater levels. In addition to the Drainage works, Phase III include improvements to sections of the watermain and sanitary sewer.
The Drainage works in Phase III involve the continued expansion of the storm sewer system together with ground and road raising. This work builds on improvements in Phase I & II to manage the area’s fluctuating groundwater levels and service Crescent Beach’s long-term drainage needs.
Drainage improvements are now planned on Sullivan Street, a section of Ohara Lane, Alexandra Lane, and a section of McBride Avenue.
- New storm sewer system with appurtenances,
- New storm service tie-ins to improve drainage on private properties,
- Regrading and restoration of boulevard areas and driveways,
- Sanitary sewer and Watermain improvements, and
- Road and pavement work.
This work is part of a comprehensive, multi-phased stormwater management and implementation strategy for the Crescent Beach community. It is also part of the first phase of implementation of Surrey’s Coastal Flood Adaptation Strategy (CFAS). CFAS guides our work in ensuring our community is resilient, safe, healthy and prepared for coastal flooding and sea level rise. We’re putting CFAS planning into action.
We are currently at 50% design for Phase III. We've completed topographic survey work.
Geotechnical and ground-penetrating radar investigations are underway.
Construction is planned for 2021. Project is anticipated to be completed in 2021 and details on Phase IV will be provided when available.
Postcards with project updates will be sent to residents as work progresses in the area.
Road designs for four areas are shared below for review. If you would like to provide feedback, please contact the project supervisor listed below.
