Collection overview
We collect three carts as part of regular waste collection:
- Organics: every week.
- Processed at the Surrey Biofuel Facility, where food and yard waste are turned into renewable natural gas and compost.
- Include all food scraps and yard trimmings.
- Recyclables: every two weeks, alternating with garbage collection
- Delivered to a Recycle BC sorting facility where materials are separated and sent to manufacturers to be made into new products.
- Place clean paper, metal, and plastic packaging only.
- Garbage: every two weeks, alternating with recyclables collection
- Delivered to the North Surrey Recycling and Waste Centre
- Avoid putting recyclables or food waste in the garbage — it’s the most costly and harmful option.
Learn how to sort your recycling and waste. Proper sorting helps keep valuable materials out of the landfill and supports a cleaner, greener Surrey.
Please have your carts out by 7:30am on your collection day to ensure pickup. Carts must be spaced 1 metre (3 feet) apart and from other objects like parked vehicles. Ensure the lid is closed to avoid spills.
Garbage, recycling, and organics are collected by different trucks. These trucks are not always scheduled to arrive at the same time, and often come at different times throughout the day. Our waste collection contractor works from 7:30am-7:30pm, so please leave your carts out during this time to ensure service.
